About Ithel ap Robert
He was elected Bishop of Bangor in 1357 to succeed his uncle, Matthew ap Iorwerth ap Rhiryd, but the election was quashed by the Pope. In 1375 he was appointed archdeacon at St Asaph and held that office until 1382.
