Jaap (65), was found dead, lying in a pool of blood, in his home on the farm Witklip, in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, on Wednesday 6th March 2003. Police say Dekker's neighbour phoned him about 07h00 and did not answer the phone. The neighbour went to Dekker's house to check. When the neighbour opened the door he saw that the house had been ransacked. He then proceeded to the other rooms and found Dekker lying in a pool of blood in his bedroom. He had been shot in the stomach.
