About Jacob Landau
Jack Landau left Zawiercie in 1918, and lived in Duesseldorf for one year. He came to Montreal in 1919. He worked in the leather tanning business in Montreal. the family lived in Windsor from 1928-1933 approximately. They moved between Montreal and Ottawa several times, finally settling in Ottawa in the mid 1940s. Jack worked as a butcher and delicatessen owner until his retirement around 1960. In his later years, he was the gabbai rishon (principal trustee) of the Ottawa Chevra Kadisha (Jewish burial society).
