About Jacob Perkins, III

John Jacob Perkins was a friend of the Indians and called

"Much Big" by them because of his large stature. On

March 27, 1708, bought a farm from Hannah Breen, a widow,

60 acres of upland marshland, a house and barn, at Cape

Neddeck, Maine.( York Deeds Vol.8 p247)

On October 23,1717, sold the farm at Cape Neddeck and

bought from Issac Provedice 481/2 acres in York, Maine,

along the seashore between the Great Marsh and Wells.

On December 9, 1717, bought a farm from Thomas Mason

(a weaver from Wells, Maine), 100 acres in Wells, Maine,

along the Ogunquit River and joining Goodall lands,

A farmer, cooper, landowner, part owner of the Mills in

Philliptown (Sanford), York, and in (North) Berwick, Maine.

He was interested in public affairs, a constable, a surveyer

of highways, a selectman and on the committee to furnish

the first meeting house in Wells, Maine.
