About Jacob Uhler, Sr.

A Patriot of the American Revolution for PENNSYLVANIA with the rank of PRIVATE. DAR Ancestor # : A117818

Jacob Uhler was a shoemaker and farmer. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary Army from Northampton County, PA, as per master rolls dated May 16, 1780, April 10, 1781, July 1781, and April 18, 1782. (For reference see Archives of Pennsylvania, Fifth Series, Vols. IV and VIII.)

From 1784-1786, he worked a farm in "Hirshdahl" Plainfield Township. In 1786, he bought a farm about 5 miles north of Easton, PA. This farm he bequeathed to his son Henry (1785-1862) who bequeathed it to his son Henry (1825-1900), and later it became the property of Samuel T. Uhler in 1902. In 1788, he was taxed on 131 acres. A will was probated April 29, 1807 in Easton, PA.

He was buried in the church yard at St. John's Lutheran Church in Easton, PA, and the stone was later moved to the Easton Cemetery where it now is in the last row, second stone from the north, in the plot of transferred tombstones. (In 1853, St. John's moved many stones and graves from the back of the church to build the present building that is used for their educational programs.) Jacob and Margaret had nine children.
