=====================================================================

[Jacobus du Preez (1711 – 1749) had indeed lived, worked & died on Twee Jonge Gezellen.

He hired / loaned the farm from one of our family ancestors, the widow Margaretha Pasman, after her husband Barend Burgert died in 1729.

Jacobus du Preez married Maria Susanna Theron (1724 - 1797) on the 28th of May 1741.

Jacobus du Preez died on Twee Jonge Gezellen on 4 Feb 1749.

His widow, Maria Susanna Theron then got remarried to Jan Gysbert Olivier (1725 – 1797) on 5 March 1752.

Jan Gysbert Olivier was the son of one of the original Twee Jonge Gezellen (two young bachelors), who were our direct ancestors.

NOTE: Jacobus du Preez is linked to us (Krone-family) by 12 steps (not directly related though).

HISTORY TWEE JONGE GEZELLEN:

Barend Burgert (1692 – 1729) and Jan Olivier (1683 - ?) were the original “Two Young Bachelors” (the ‘Twee Jonge Gezellen’) who lived on the Farm

Twee Jonge Gezellen in 1710. Barend Burgert married Margaretha Pasman in 1712, and Barend’s sister Helena Burgert (1701 - ?) married Jan Oliver

in 1717 (effectively making the two young bachelors into brothers-in-law). Jan Oliver and Helena Burgert had a son Jan Gysbert Olivier (1725 – 1797).

I do not know if there were any graves (for the Du Preez's) on Twee Jonge Gezellen (I have never heard of any) - as far as I've been able to find out the burial grounds in Tulbagh at that time were at the old "Kruis-Vallei gemeente begrafplaas".]
