=====================================================================
He died on his farm Krombecks rivier, Swellendam (today Heidelberg, CP). He and his farm are described in detail by travellers of that time like Paravicini di Capelli;
C.I. Latrobe and Hinrich Lichtenstein. E.H. Burrows in his book, Overberg Outspan, also mentions the role he played in the Swellendam of old. His parents-in-law, the De Bruyns, lived on the farm Theuniskraal where they already practised viticulture. At the auction of their estate on 23 May 1785 Pieter bought their family Bible.
