Jacobus / James Kuykendall

Jacobus Kuykendall (baptized 21 Oct 1721, NT - d. ca 1766 Meck. Co, NC) hereafter called James. Also found as Cobus and Coburn. James Kuykendall left an estate in what is now York Co, SC. James was listed as a married man on the 1748 Spanish Alarm roster. Married before 1748 Sarah Coburn (b. 1729; d. 16 Jul 1807, York Co, SC; bur. Bethesda Presby Chr. Yard). Sarah's will probated 3 Aug 1807. Children:

     1)  Samuel, m. the widow of James Harris, Susan (Hargrove) Harris, dau of John

and Sarah Hargrove
2) Jonathan, m. Ann
3) Elizabeth, m. James Armstrong, Sr.
4) Mary, m. John Carroll
5) James, Jr., d. 8 Jun 1800, York Co., SC
In the minutes of Tryon Co, NC, 1769, on the motion of Alexander Martin, Jonathan Kuykendall, being orphan son of James Kuykendall, deceased, and of the full age of 14, chose as his guardian John Carroll, Jr. The marriage of Samuel to Susan took place in Lincoln Co, NC, 12 Feb 1791. Children of Susan H. Harris and her first husband James are Peter and Fanny Harris.
