About Jakub "Jacob" Jereczek

Obituary: Jacob Jereczek, 84, rural Winona, died Sunday at 9:40. a.m. at Buena Vista Nursing Home, Wabasha, after a long-illness. He formerly lived at 312 Laird Street in Winona. He was born at Parchowo, West Prussia, July 18, 1875; son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jereczek, and came to the United States and Winona in 1884. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and married Valeria Bonik, who died in 1953. They farmed near Homer until 1934 when he retired. Survivors are: four sons, Sigfried, Frank, Theodore and Alphonse, all of Winona; three daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Mortinger and Mrs. Clarence (Mamie) Chuchna, Winona; and Mrs. Arthur (Sally) Brennan, Homer; one brother, Stanislaus, Winona; one sister, Mrs. John (Clara) Rogge, Winona; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One son, Michael, died in World War I and one daughter also has died. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9:30AM at Watkowski Funeral Home and at 10:00AM at St. Stanislaus Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. N.F. Grulkowski officiated. Pallbearers were Michael L. Jereczek, Ronald Kroning, Everett Speltz, Daniel Wroblewski, David Kouba and Michael J. Jereczek. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
