Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jereczek (pictured above), 703 East Wabasha street, observed their golden wedding anniversary Sunday at their home. They were married November 26, 1894, at St. Stanislaus Church, where they attended a special mass Sunday at 7:30 a. m. A family reunion followed at the home. Mrs. Jereczek, the former Valeria Bonik, and her husband have lived in Winona practically all their lives. Mr. Jereczek retired a few years ago from active farming. They have seven children, Mrs. John Mortinger, Mrs. Clarence Chuchna, Mrs. Arthur Brennan and Fred, Frank, Theodore and Alphonse Jereczek, Winona, and 13 grandchildren.
Obituary:
Mrs. Valeria Jereczek, 74, 316 Laird Street, died at 5:45AM today at her home after an illness of four weeks. She was born November 3, 1878, in West Prussia, and came to Winona from there 69 years ago. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society of St. Stanislaus Church and the Winona County Chapter, Gold Star Mothers. Her husband and she celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in November 1944. Survivors are her husband; four sons, Sigfried, Frank, Theodore and Alphonse, Winona; three daughters, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Mortinger and Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Chuchna, Winona, and Mrs. Arthur (Sally) Brennan,Winona Rt. 3; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 9AM at St. Stanislaus Church, the Rev. N.F. Grulkowski officiated. Pallbearers were Frank Breza, Leo and Peter Wachowiak, Clarence Jereczek, Joseph Poblocki and Mark Tybora. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
