The graves are located in the Liber ty Hill Christian Church (Church of Christ) Cemetery.Accordingto the H istorical Records Survey : McMinn CountyTombstones, Vol. 2,originally t he cemetery was located next tothe Liberty Hill ChristianChurch. Howev er, the church was moved in 1905. The cemetery is locatedeight miles f rom Athensand five miles east of Englewood on the roadleading to Telli co Plains via Mecca. Coming from Athens, the road tothe cemetery is th e last right turn before McMinn County road 466. Theroadis one lane, a nd steep. The cemetery is only about 200 feet offthehighway, and is on a k noll. Both the tombstones of James S.Cast andElizabeth are broken, but a re still legible. CharlesC. Hodge would have gone back to Athens and o btained materialsto repair the stone,but the forecast was for freezing r ain andwell below freezing temperatures, so he did not know if the mas tic would set up properly.He will try to repair them thenext available t ime he is in thevicinity. The tombstone ofJames S. Cast reads, James S . Presswood and wife Louisy Presswooddo bargain an d sell and convey to the Southern Methodist Church orJames Cass & othe r trustees of said church a certain tract or parcelof land situated in M cMinn County and State of Tenn. and in old 13Dist. & in Section 30 and 2 9 Township 4 range Second East of theMeridian for the purposes of chur ch & graveyard bounded as followscommencing at the northwest corner of g raveyard thence a westwardcourse to a rock corner thence southeast to a r ock corner thence northto the old crossing place to a rock thence nort h to a rock cornerthence west to beginning corner containing three acr es more or less tohave and hold to the said James Cass & other trustee s of said SouthernMethodist Church and their successors & their heirs a nd assigneesforever.
