James Cass

I am researching the Cass/Cast families in Wilkes and Iredell Co.s, NC, from around 1770 to 1820. I believe they are all related, but am having some problems figuring out just what the connections are. I am especially interested in more information about James Cass b. 1765/1774 and his wife Sarah who were Wilkes Co. and had the following children:

5. James CASS, Born: Abt 1806 Wilkes Co, North Carolina Died: 19 Jan 1850 Hancock Co, Indiana, Buried:Hayes Cem, Hancock Co, Indiana, Marriage: CASS, James MABERY, Susannah 11 Dec 1824 Wilkes co. Married 2nd wife Cynthia Ann Cook July 28, 1847 Hancock, Indiana.

6. Aaron CASS Born: Abt 1809 Wilkes Co, North Carolina Died: 12 Jul 1862 Hancock Co, Indiana Buried: Hayes Cem, Hancock Co, Indiana. Married: 1st wife was Elizabeth Mitchell 2nd wife was Nancy Rogers

8. Samuel CASS Born: 1821 , Wilkes Co, North Carolina,

9. Able CASS Born: 3 Jun 1807 Wilkes Co, North Carolina Died: 19 Dec 1850 , Wilkes Co, North Carolina. Married Rachel Mitchell

The date of his birth is unknown but he is assumed to have been born in the 1700's, perhaps 1738 in Cottingham, County York or Yorkshire, England

Parents: William Robert Cass & Dorothy Bowman

Death: before 15 JUL 1816 In Iredell County, North Carolina (see will section)

It is unknown if his middle name is Alhastings or Samuel, both have been listed without sourcing

Spouse: Nancy Moody of North Carolina, married in 1765 in North Carolina [citation needed]

The above Census records show that he probably lived in Iredell County from 1790 till his death in 1816. There was probably a James Cast, who lived in Wilkes County and then moved to Iredell County in 1820.
