Hamilton Memoirs He was born before 13 September 1670, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Dalziel in Lanarkshire, Scotland. His baptismal Record reads as follows: "baptized James Hamiltoun son to Allex. Hamiltoun of Dalzell." [National Records of Scotland, Dalziel Baptismal Records, 1648-1819, reference OPR.639/1 9]

Death

James Hamilton of Dalziel died at 18.30 hours in the evening of 29 March 1727. His death record reads as follows: "Dyed James Hamiltone Laird of Dalzell about half six att night." [National Records of Scotland, Dalziel Death Records, 1697-1749, reference OPR.638/1 199]
