Alexander Hamilton, 2nd of Dalzell was the son of James Hamilton, 1st of Dalzell and Beatrice Fleming.[2]

He married Bethia Henderson, daughter of Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell and Margaret Menteith.[1]

He died in January 1691.[1]

He was Commissioner to raise three regiments of Lanarkshire militia in 1668.[1]

In 1668 Dalzell was assigned him and confirmed in 1672 by his half-brother Robert Hamilton of Monkland.[1]
