James 'Matt' Madison Sanders, Jr.

1870 census lists him as 5 years old, putting his birth year later, c. 1865.

One source ( http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~shadywoo/marsh/marsh3.htm ) lists parents as George Sanders and Evaline Trask, not Joseph & Polly.

James Madison 'Matt' Sanders moved to Kingfisher, OK, by covered wagon and homesteaded. He had 11 children there.

Because of 'Matt' and Susan's early move to Oklahoma, they and their family's data were unavailable to me because the separation of his and his other siblings' Missouri lives. Until a chance meeting in the Steelville, MO cemetery where I was reading tombstones and encountered another researcher (also a Californian) doing the same, when we discovered a mutual family connection and she said she could put me in touch with my missing family branch. This resulted in my making contact with the youngest and remaining of Isabel (Sanders) Resenthal, now deceased, of Pueblo Colorado. Daphne's powers of persuasion and much cooperation from other members of her branch Madison 'Matt' Sanders family. I was privileged to meet more than 40 of them a couple of years later at a family reunion that was as much for my benefit as the others'. I liked those that I met and was pleased I could know who they were to include them in my family tree research. I'd probably never have done it without that cemetery meeting in Missouri between two vacationing Californians. Small world indeed!! "
