James Meckes resided all his life in Albrightsville and at Plains, Luzerne
County, PA. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Albrightsville. He was married to Alice Stout (daughter of Henry Stout and his wife Susan) on 31 Jan 1901 by Justice of the Peace, M. L. Hutchenson (Monroe County marriage license #1807).
He was a farmer.
James died at the home of his brother, Roger Meckes, at Albrightsville and was buried in Salem Church cemetery at Gilbert. (Obit in Morning Call", Allentown, Tuesday, 3 January 1950, p. 12)
