"(380) James Murray of Outerston, fourth son of William (No. 376), buried Lasswade 19th April 1701. Will recorded 26th August 1702 (Edinburgh). He married at Edinburgh, 23rd January 1673, Magdalen, daughter and heiress of John Johnston of Polton, and had issue : -
- John Murray, served heir to his father 16th July 1702 ; died s.p.
- Sir James (No. 381).
- Colonel William (No. 382)."
