"Sir William Murray, Baronet [S 1630] of Newton, 1st son and heir, succeeded to the Baronetcy on the death of his father. He married (contract 3 February 1644) Jane, daughter of Patrick (Murray) 1st Lord Elibank [S], by his 4th wife, Helen, daughter of Sir James Lindsay."

"(377) Sir William Murray, second Baronet of Newton. He was served heir to his father 2nd June 1641 and 9th October 1647; and married, contract dated 3rd February 1644, Jean Murray, daughter of Patrick, first Lord Elibank (No. 356). They had two sons :-
- Sir William (No. 378).
- Hew Murray. Will recorded 8th November 1693 (Edinburgh)."
