James PIERCE. Born 24 Mar 1748 in Berkley, VA. Died 1 Apr 1833 in Sevier Co. TN. Buried in Washington Co. TN.

James Pearce: CLAIM FOR PENSION: W5529-Revolutionary War James Pearce was born March 24, 1748. While a resident of Washington County, North Carolina which bordered on the Cherokee Nation, James Pearce by order from Colonel John Sevier, raised a company of volunteers in the summer of 1779 and marched with his company to the French Broad River, to prevent the Indians from crossing, was out 19 days. He raised a company of volunteers in the spring of 1780 marched against the Indians to the Beaver Creek and was out two weeks. Early in the fall of 1780, he with his company, volunteered under Colonel Sevier and marched to King's Mountain, was in that battle, length of service 3 months. Immediately after, to guard the frontier's against Cherokee Indians, marched his company over to the French Broad River, had an engagement with the Indians, burned some of their towns, length if this service was 3 months.

He married Margaret DUNGAN, daughter of Jeremiah DUNGAN & Rebecca HENRY/HENDRY, 1771 in Frederick Co., Maryland. Born 4 Feb 1755 in Berkley, VA. Died 20 Feb 1837 in Washington Co. TN.

Margaret died 20 Feb. 1837 in Washington Co. TN, at the home of her daughter Sarah/wife of Thomas Gibson.
