James Ross was born to Rev. George Ross and Anna Catharine Gezel Ross abt. 1735 in New Castle Co., DE. James is often confused with his brother George Ross' son James Ross. We do know that James Ross married Eleanor Reynolds in Oxford, Chester Co., Pennsylvania abt. 1754. They had two sons and two daughters; James, Thomas, Margaret, and Ann Ross. His wive Eleanor Reynolds Ross died in 1836. James Ross' brother was George Ross; signer of the Declaration of Independence.
Notes
Some believe that this James Ross was father to Joseph Harve Ross b. 1756 in Frederick Co., VA - but this has now been proven incorrect.
