James was born before 1657 (would have been at least 21 years of age when named Freeman) in Duxbury, Massachusetts to Henry and Ann (Plummer) Samson.

He married Hannah, widow of Samuel Waite, before May 21, 1679 (execution of deed). Hannah and James had seven children all probably born in Dartmouth.

James Samson was born about 1640 to Henry Samson and Ann Plummer, he died between 10 January 1716 and July 1718.[1] Before 12 October 1694, James married Hannah the widow of Samuel Wait, who died in February of 1677, Portsmouth, the administration of Wait's estate was given to his widow.

"James Sampson of Dartmouth and his wife Hannah, released her one-third interest in the land sold by her son, Samuel Wait."[2][3] Children of James and Hannah:[4]

James Samson Henry Samson Joseph Samson married 6 May 1719, Sarah Samson (Sarah and Abraham are siblings) Anna Samson married Shubael Smith Penelope Samson married Abraham Samson Susanna Samson married Benjamin Hilman Priscilla Samson married Samuel Hammond Research Notes

His wife Hannah surname may be unknown. The profile for Hannah has her surname as Whitman, proof is needed.
