From Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Vol. 20 p. 8-9:
8 STEPHEN2 SAMSON (Henry1) d. Duxbury bef. 31 Jan. 1714/5 when his widow was appointed administratrix.
He m. bef. 1686 ELIZABETH , d. Upton bef. 30 March 1744 (inv.).
Stephen Samson and sons Benjamin and John Samson were among those granted a lot in Duxbury on 16 June 1712. After his death, the widow Elizabeth remained in Duxbury for many years but appears to have moved to Bellingham sometime before her death, perhaps to live with her dau. Elizabeth. No death record was found for either Stephen or Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Samson relict widow of Stephen Samson, late of Duxborough (Duxbury) deceased, was appointed administratrix of his estate on 31 Jan. 1714 [1714/5]. A settlement of the estate is undated but evidently should be either 21 or 22 June 1716 since it is recorded between items considered at a court session held on those dates. It mentions two eldest sons, Benjamin and John (already given land in Dartmouth and to have homestead in Duxbury after their mother's decease); land in Dartmouth, Duxbury and Pembroke was distributed among six children: Cornelius, Hannah, Mary, Elizabeth, Dorcass and Abigall, except their mother's dower during her life.
On 27 Oct. 1716 Samuel Thare 3rd of Mendon, husbandman, and Mary his wife; Hannah Samson and Elizabeth Samson both of Duxborough, daughters of Stephen Samson, late of Duxborough, dec'd. sold to John Wadsworth land formerly belonging to father Stephen Samson.
On 28 May 1722 Benjamin Samson of Plimouth, mariner; John Samson of Duxborough, yeoman; and Dorcas Samson sold to William Macomber land in Dartmouth.
On 12 March 1723/4 Elizabeth Samson, widow of Stephen, and John Samson, both of Duxbury, Robert Tyler and wife Hannah, Samuel Thayer and wife Mary, Jonathan Thayer and wife Elizabeth, John Plumly and wife Dorcas, and Abigail Samson, all of Mendon, conveyed each one-twelfth part of the share of lands (evidently their brother Cornelius' share of his father's estate) to Benjamin Samson of Plymouth.
A deed of Jonathan Thayer of Bellingham and wife Elizabeth of Bellingham, dated 19 Sept. 1740 [see #32] was witnessed by Elizabeth Samson (undoubtedly her mother, the widow of Stephen).
George Bruce was appointed administrator of the estate of Elizabeth Sampson of Upton, widow, his late mother-in-law. On 30 March 1744 the inventory was presented.
