James Vomastic, 83, Dies Thursday
James J. Vomastic, 83, of 622 Union Street died Thursday morning, October 19 (1967). He had been ailing for the past two months.
Mr. Vomastic was born Aug 3, 1884, in the Town of Waukechon and farmed in that township until 1947 when he moved to Shawano after his retirement. His marriage to Mathilda Debban took place April 18, 1907 at Shawano,. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. for 18 years he served at clerk of Riverside School; four years as assessor of the Town of Waukechon and __ years as treasurer. He was a trustee of the First National Bank, Shawano, and director of the Shawano Equity and Livestock Association for 34 years. He also served on the Shawano County Board of six years and as director of Chaimson's store for 12 years.
Survivors are five children: Earl, Gillett; Arthur, and Harold, who lives on the homestead farm; Irene, Mrs. Walter Bartz, all of the Shawano area; Esther, Mrs. Leonard Sager, rural Bonduel; Clarence of Pulaski; and Lawrence of Green Bay. Also 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and two sisters: Mrs. Anna Bohman of Palmer, Mich. and Miss Frances Vomastic, Milwaukee.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1;30 pm on Monday at St. James Lutheran Church, the Rev. E.E. Beyer will officiate, and interment will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Karth Funeral Home after 2 pm on Sunday and at the church from 11 am until the time of service on Monday.
