Waukechon Farmer, John Vomastic Dies
John Vomastic, 81, passed away at the Shawano Municipal Hospital Saturday evening. He was a prominent farmer in the Town of Wauechon.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic church in the Town of Waukechon. Burial was in the church cemetery at Waukechon. Pallbearers were Frank Zeman, Leonard Sommers, Frank Kugel, Joe Bohr, Frank Nimitz, and John Tomashek.
Mr. Vomastic was born in Bohemia Dec. 18, 1864. When he was 4 years old, his parents came to the Town of Waukechon and settled on what is now the Jim Vomastic farm. On July 2, 1894, he was married to Frances Vladek. Mr. Vomastic operated a farm in the Town of Waukechon up to about 6 years ago when he retired. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus church in the Town of Waukechon. Children surviving are: James, Shawano; Ernest, Shawano; Alois, Shawano; Mrs. Zita Seidenglanz, Milwaukee; Catherine Harrison, Shawano; and Joe, Shawano, Rt. 1. Other survivors are 10 grandchildren; 1 brother, Jim, Rt. 1, Shawano; and 2 sisters, Frances, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Anna Bohman, Marquette, MIch.
(Adolph Vomastic, 1897 - 1918, who has a gravestone in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, is not mentioned in the obituary.)
