Obituary gives birth date of 1849, Gravestone says 1850.
John was one of the founding members of St John Cantius Church along with Florian Glicinski (see Glynn). This parish was almost 100% Polish. Reference to John in this 1902 publication was as John Krafta. John has several entries in the St Cloud City registry with various spellings; 1892 - John Kraft, 1897 - John Krafty, 1927 - John Krafta, all at 224 15th Ave. No. St Cloud.

Does not show up in 1888-89 St Cloud City Directory (their first). Noted in 1892 City Directory as John Kraft - laborer, 224 15th Ave No. Same in 1896-97 Directory. working at Great Northern Railway. 1900 - John Krafty.

1895 State Census lists: John Krafta, Age 40, POB - Poland, time in State and emuneration district 16 years 3 months, occupation laborer. Wife Catherine, Age 40, POB Poland. Daughter Leana, Age 20, POB Poland. Son John, Age 18, POB Poland. Son Theodor, Age 16, POB Minnesota. Son Joseph, Age 12, POB Minn. (on file)

Major discrepancy on emigration dates.1895 is probably correct making emigration approximately January of 1879. (This brings John Jr.'s emigration date and POB into question. Also DOB)
