John Kulas Family - John Kulas and his wife Josephine (Krefft) Kulas (m. 1860), came to this country from Poland (then Prussia) in 1873. John came from the area around Bytow, while Josephine came from Kalisz, or the Kashubian part of Poland. They were aided by Josephine's sister's family, Frank and Anna (Krefft) Weir/Wejer, who had settled south of Pine Creek, in 1859. Initially John and Josphine settled on a farm near Pine Creek, later settling permanently on a farm by Dodge. Their children were Julia (b. 9/18/1863, Mrs. August Miloch), Frank (b. 10/1/1866, Mary Kukowski), Mike (b. 9/28/1869, Jennie Rohn), Josephine (b. 12/18/1877, Mrs. Mike Wieczorek) and Mary (b. 5/7/1879, Mrs. Andrew Hoesley). Julia, Frank and Mike were born in Poland. John and Mary died 8/15/1917 and 5/15/1917, and are buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Pine Creek. Donated by J. Datta
