About Jane A. "Jennie" Lowes
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/80133606/jane_(jennie)-ann-rich...
Taken from 1992 Christmas Letter from Ralph Brown............... Jane was born to James and Ann Lowes on September 9, 1858 at Hobson Pit, County Durham, England. At the age of 15, she traveled alone to the Pittsburgh area to live with her brother Joseph who had earlier settled there. To help out with expenses, she did housework in the home of Wayne Kennedy Richardson, taking care of his wife (who was in ill health) and the Richardson's two sons. In time, Mrs. Richardson died, and Wayne married Jane. Grandpa Richardson was said to be an orphan and nothing is known about his background. He worked in Pennsylvania as a coal miner and in West Virginia as a farmer. The Richardsons' moved from Roscoe, PA to the WV farm in 1893. They traveled by flat boat up the Monongahela River with household belongings and one cow to Morgantown and from Morgantown to the farm by hired wagon. The farm was two miles from Route 92 on the Stoney Run Road in the direction of Plainview School. The land is now owned by West Virginia University. The family unit consisted of two sons by Mr. Richardson's first wife(who both died of the "scourge" epidemic after moving to the farm) and the following children of Grandma Jennie: Laura Isabelle, Harry, Edward, William, Mary(Molly), Howard(Short), Milton(Scott) and Charles(Chad)..........................
