About Jane Augusta Schultz
Jane Augusta Kappeley was born on 08 May 1884.On 31 October 1906 she married Alfred William Climo. After their marriage they moved to Paeroa and their first two children were born there: Ivy Pauline and Alfred Claude. In 1913 they moved to Hautapu, near Cambridge where Daphney Jane was born. Shortly afterwards they moved back to Paeroa were Alfred was manager of the local butter factory. In June 1915 Alfred developed appendicitis and was transported by train to Thames Hospital, where he died a week later, at the age of 30 years. As the family were living in a factory house, Jane had to move the family out. Ivy went to various relatives before finally going to live in Hunterville with her paternal grandmother, Kate Climo; Alfred Claude went to the orphanage in Whanganui and Daphney, who was only 2 years old stayed with her mother who had found a job at the Masonic Hotel in Whanganui. After a few years, Daphney too went to to Hunterville to live with her grandmother. In 1925 Jane remarried to John Schultz[2] and they lived in Gore, Southland for 12 years before returning to Whanganui where Jane lived until her death on 29 March 1975.
