About Jane (MNU), widow Yardley
Yardley Genealogy ~ from the immigrant forward.. does not name Jane, but A Genealogical and Personal History of Bucks County, Pennsylvania By William Watts Hart Davis (page 123) does.
Her 2nd husband, with whom Jane had children, had issues: There is a litany of William's transgressions in the Middletown MM records.
Confusion in parentage of offspring
Her 1st husband, Samuel Yardley aka Samual Yeardley had had a bastard child, either with or without Jane, so it is unclear whether this was outside his relations with Jane. Perhaps it was the child "Francis Plumley". In such case then, the assignment of the surname Plumly to Francis, as it is here, is incorrect
Jane's relationship to the Yardley family of Falls MM was not easily established. The key is that when she married William, her second husband, she was a widow (look under sources). So, her maiden name is not Yardley: IOW: William married Mrs. Yardley.
By process of elimination: There is only one male Yardley of that era who married a "Jane" and died young during "the right range" of years (bingo:via search parameters:) {MMvB May 2019}
- 1762, March 17, Yardley, Jane, and William Plummer (sic). Plummer must be an error in spelling, it's Plumley
- ~• note: We see Jane as Jane Plumley in later Quaker records, as attached as images here.
- So, being Quaker we wonder if her birth family was Quaker... It almost must be.. during that era.

- 1767, Dec. 13, Yardley, Samuel, and Hannah Williamson (?) < to be checked in Yardley genealogy
open research
- task: to find Jane's maiden name... perhaps look in Quaker marriage before sep 1760. (see "condemnation" in time line)
- Jane's DOB seems suspect
- The misdeed of Samuel Yardley (1753) recounts his conviction at Falls for fathering a bastard child (How old was Jane then?)... see Samuel's profile and "removal of Samuel Yeardley"

~• curator note: Would like to see confirmation of birthplace. There are reasons to think that Charlotte and (some?) siblings were born near Middletown MM (see 1793)... MMvB vol. curator |
