• Last Edited=3 Jul 2006 Janet Borthwick was the daughter of William Borthwick of Borthwick (d 1429) by his wife, Bethoc Sinclair.
• She married, firstly, Sir James Douglas, 1st Lord of Dalkeith, son of Sir James Douglas of Dalkeith and Agnes Dunbar, before October 1439.2, as his 2nd wife. 
• She married, secondly, George Crichton, 1st and last Earl of Caithness, son of Stephen Crichton and unknown daughter Cairns.2 

She died after 5 June 1464.3
