Jean married Marguerite Chevillat (Chretien). Together they had the following children:
Eve Chevillat;
Sébastien Chevillat;
Antoinette Chevillat;
Jeanne Petitjean (Chevillat).

He died in April 1712 in Leval, Territoire de Belfort, Franche-Comté, France and was buried in April 1712 in Rougemont-le-Château, Territoire de Belfort, Franche-Comté, France.
