Geslagregister vroeë Kaapse families - CC de Villiers :

a1 Jean Durand

v. La Motte Chalançon in Dauphine, Frankryk, ca. 1690, †Maart 1727. Chirurgyn en boer in Drakenstein, x 29.2.1702 Anna Vermeulen, 1686; xx 6.5.1717 Wilhelmina van Zyl, v. Haarlem.

Jean Durand in Boucher

'The refugee surgeon and farmer Jean Durand, born about the year 1666, came from the more isolated Calvinist community of La Motte- Chalancon, south of Die. He must surely have been related to the surgeon Durand of this small town who committed suicide in 1738 because his daughter had been interned in a religious house for converts to Catholicism. By that time the Cape settler had been dead for more than a decade.
