HEREFORD
WILL OF JEAN BARNES HERYFORD dated March 24, 1754
From Will Book B, No. 1 - page 52

In the name of God, Amen-

I, Jean Heryford of the Parish of Truro and County of Fairfax being at this time sick and weak of body, yet of sound and perfect mind and disposing memory, blessed by God, therefore do commit my body to the earth to be disposed of according to the discretion of my friends and my soul to God in full and perfect hopes of a blessed Resurrection thro’ Jesus Christ, hoping pardon of my offenses, I make the following disposition of my worldly effects; viz-

Item - I give and bequeath unto my son John Herriford one large chist, one large glass, one long table, and one cart and wheels -
Item - I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Herriford one negro woman named Phillis and her increase to him and his heirs forever according to his Father’s Will.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Frances one negro man named Bob to her and her heirs forever.
Item - I give unto son George Hereyford one small chist and my two plow horses.
Item - I give unto my daughter Ann Taylor thirty shillings.
Item - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margarett my sidesaddle.
Item - My Will and Desire is that the remainder of my Estate of what kind so ever (that is not already given away) may be equally divided between my two sons George and Henry Herriford and my daughter Frances Herriford and this I do publish to be my Last Will and Testament and that my two sons John John Hereford and George Herriford George Hereford I appoint to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this 24th day of March 1754.

At a Court con’t. and held for the County of Fairfax 16th and 17th of April 1754 was presented in Court by John Herryford and George Herriford Executors therein named who made oath thereto and the same being proved by the oaths of William Peake and William Moore, two of the Witnesses, as is admitted to Record and the said Executors having performed what is usual in such cases Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate thereof in due form.
