1744 Will of John Herriford of the Parish of Truro, County of Fairfax. 30 Jun 1743 / 19 Apr 1744. To my son James 250 acres of land where he now lives.

To my son John the remaining part of my land being the plantation I now live on upon the mouth of the ____ Potomac River about 225 acres.
To my daughter Ann having upon her marriage given her what I think an equal share with the rest of my children, to prevent further claim on my estate I will one shilling.
To my wife Jane Negro woman for the term of her natural life also the plantation I live on.
To my son George after the death of his mother my Negro woman Bess.
To my son Henry after the death of his mother my Negro woman Phillis.
To my daughter Margaret livestock, furniture and tobacco.
To my daughter Janet Negro child Toby son of Phillis and household items.
To my daughter Frances livestock and household items.
The remaining part of my estate to be equally divided between my wife Jane and my sons George and Henry and my daughters Margaret, Jane and Frances.
