Jeanne Mercer

Jane (Jeanne) Le Clerc was born about 1559 in Valenchinne, Les Deux, Normandy, France the daughter of Arnoul LeClerc & Jenna Lippensen, wealthy merchants in the town of Valenchinne. They were Huguenots (Protestants) caught in the Religious Wars of the times and ended up in Belgium & Switzerland.

Jeanne was born about 1560. Jeanne Le Clerc ... She passed away about 1625. [1]

She married Jan Mercier/Jean Mercer. He was the son of Jehan DeCoquiel DeLeMercier and Peronne DeLaHoue.

Jean Mercier lived in England where his children was born. There he was known as Jan Mercer. The children born in England were christened under the name of Mercer rather than Mercier or Le Mercier.

Nathaniel Batchelder married first Hester Mercer, daughter of Jean and Jeanne (leClerc) Mercer, or Mercier. She was baptized in the French or Walloon church at Southampton 1 Aug 1602.
