About Jedediah Owen Darby
According to Murray Darby, Jedediah, at the age of 12 was bound out to learn the trade of mill-wright. He his wife Rebecca settled in 1819-20 moved to Ohio where they settled on Letart Twnshp in the rich bottom land along the Ohio River. This land was likely given to them by Rebecca's father, David Sayre.
Deanna Darby, great, great great grand daughter of Moses reports: He settled with his parents in Iroquois County, settling in Spring Creek Fall, Iroquois Co about 1832. Elijah left Illinois in 1846. His brothers Daniel, Moses and Aaron left I 1838. There are no records that he served in the military when in Missouri.
According to land records Jedidiah and Rebecca bought 180 acres on the township line between Danforth and Iroquois Townships. It was purchased on Aug. 20, 1835 and April 15, 1843.
According to court testimony, Jedidiah died in Oct. 1849 (his will was destroyed by fire in 1866) and he left surviving him: Daniel, Owen, Moses, Aaron, Elisha, Elijah, Eliza Darby Flesher, Hannah Darby Bonham, and Nancy Darby Eoff, Jefferson....his only children and heirs-at-law."
