Not the same as Jehu Barnes, of Wilkes County
“The parents are in fact James and Sarah Carter Barnes.” In 1760, James Barnes came from Chester, Pennsylvania to Orange County, North Carolina.
He was the son of James "Handsome" Barnes and Sarah Temperance Parker. She was the perhaps the daughter of Edward Teague.
Most of their 10 or 12 children were born in Burke Co., North Carolina. They moved to Parke County, Indiana, where Jehu died, leaving a will dated 22 March 1833 [Will Book I, page 2] . In his will, he left most of his estate to his daughter Duannah, but the other heirs were to receive the some of one dollar each, and they are named, including his daughter, Sarah. When the receipts are signed, it John Johnson who makes his mark for his signature and his wife Sally.

He was born 1760 in Kennett, Chester, Pennsylvania, United States, and died 22 MAR 1833 in Parke, Indiana, United States.

RECORDS OF WILLS In the name of God Amen; I Jehue Barnes Sr. of Park County, State of Indiana, considering the uncertainty of the mortal life, and being in and of a sound mind and memory do make ordain and declare this instrument to be my last will and testament, revoking all others, in manner and form following towit; First I resign my soul into the hands of Almighty God, and my body I commit to the earth to be buried at the cretion of my executor hereinafter named; And my worldly estate I give and devise as follows; First, I give and devise unto my wife Luranah all that my said messuage or tenement with the appurtenances, situate lying and being in the county of Park State of Indiana and on which I now live, with the lands and hereditaiments thereunto belonging, and the cents issues and profits thereof during her natural life and from and after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath my said Messuage or tenement, lands and hereditaments unto my daughter Duannah, and to her heirs or assigns forever to be disposed of as she may think proper. I also bequeath unto my son Michael one dollar, also to my son James one dollar, to my son Ninevy one dollar, to my daughter Sally one dollar, to the children of my daughter Rachel one dollar, to my son Jehue one dollar, to my son George one dollar, to my son John one dollar, to my son Edward one dollar, to my daughter Hannah one dollar. I also appoint my son James Barnes executor of this my last will and testament, and do enjoin it on him to settle and pay of the above claims against the estate as soon as possible after the decease of my wife who is to have the benefits and profits of all my estate both real and personal, during her natural life, and the property not heretofore particular named after settling all just claims shall be equally divided amongst all the heirs. Given under my hand and seal this twenty second day of March eighteen hundred and thirty three. Be it remembered that on this day towit, the 25th day of May A.D. 1833. Before me John G. Davis clerk of the Probate court in and for said county personally came George Dodd and Moses Swaim two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will & testament of Jehu Barnes deceased, and made oath that they saw the said testator sign and seal the said will, that they heard him publicly declare the same to be his last will & testament, & that they agreeably to his request subscribed thereto as witnesses in presence of said testator and in presence of each other.
