Joan Ogle was born circa 1410 at of Ogle, Northumberland, England.3 She married Robert Manners, Esq., Sheriff of Northumberland, son of Sir John Manners, Sheriff of Northumberland and Anne Middleton, circa 1433; They had 2 sons (Sir Robert; & Sir Gilbert) and 1 daughter (Jane, wife of William Swinhoe).2,3,4,5,6,7 Joan Ogle died after 3 February 1462.3,5,7

much later, in 1431, Robert Ogle gave welcome support to John Manners when the latter was forced to submit to a grossly partial award made by the same old adversary in a private dispute. (His daughter, Jenetta, probably then married Manners’s second son, Robert, who had just become heir apparent to the family estates and was looking for a suitable wife.)
