About Jennette Isabella Whitington
Jennette Isabella Lyons
- 1924 The friends of Mrs. Peter Whitington will regret to hear of her death at her residence, Commercial road, Unley Park, on Thursday evening. She was a daughter of the late Mr. T. W. Lyons, for many years a member of the Survey and Regisrar-General of Deeds Department. Mr. Lyons, who had seen military service in Canada, arrived in South Australia in 1852, with his wife and family. Mrs. Whitington was then 12 months old. As a girl she was closely associated with the Trinity Church Choir and Sunday School, under the late Dean Farrell. On December 21, 1872, she married Mr. Peter Whitington, and the golden wedding was celebrated in 1922. The deceased was particularly fond of music, singing, and literature. Since 1882 she and her family have been residents of Hyde Park, and for many years Mrs. Whitington was a prominent member and worker of St. Augustine's Church, Unley. She leaves a family of five sons— Messrs. Ernest, Bertram, Percy, Guy, and Louis, and three daughters— Mrs. F. C. Lloyd, and Misses Norah and Olive Whitington. There are 18 grandchildren.
(WHITINGTON—LYONS.—On the 20th December, Peter Whitington, of Adelaide, to Jennette Isabella, second daughter of Mr. Thomas Lyons, of Fenn Place, Adelaide.)
