Obituary

POCATELLO - Jennie Hess Farnsworth, 82, our mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully early Monday morning March 8, 2004, after a long illness. She was born in Georgetown, Idaho, on September 15, 1921, to Wilford W. and Leonora Cannon Piggot Hess.

She attended schools at Georgetown and graduated from Georgetown High School, where she was senior class president. She attended the University of Idaho, Southern Branch in Pocatello for one year where she met her lifelong love, John Farnsworth.
They were married May 21, 1941, in Pocatello, Idaho, and they were together for 62 years. Jennie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in Relief Society, Primary and Scouting positions. She was also a member of the Pocatello Fireman's Wives Auxiliary, and helped many years with the Fireman's New Year's Eve dance. One of her greatest pleasures was returning to her hometown to visit family and friends. She loved having her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her.

Jennie was employed by the Pocatello School District in the school lunch program, Lamb-Weston, and as a ward clerk for the old St. Anthony Hospital. She made many friends while working, and kept in touch with them throughout her life. Her interests were her husband, family, reading, long rides over Buckskin and traveling the western states. She loved square dancing, game shows and music.

She is survived by her husband, John Farnsworth, Pocatello; four sons, Steve (Lanette) Farnsworth, Pocatello, Keith (Cheryl) Farnsworth, Milwaukee, Wis., Gaylen (Kathy) Farnsworth, South Jordan, Utah, and Ken Farnsworth, Ogden, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren, Traci and Deana.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2004, at the Alameda First Ward Chapel, 954 East Walnut, with Bishop Bart Reed officiating.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, March 10 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. Fourth Ave., Pocatello, and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will follow the services at Mountain View Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
