Jeremiah was the son of Thomas and Hannah Abbe Welch. His 1st wife was Margaret Hibbard, whom he married on 15 Dec 1736 at Windham. She died in 1784 and he married 2nd Jerusha Wales, 25 May 1785 at Windham. Jerusha was the daughter of Nathaniel and Mercy West Wales, born 27 Nov 1717 at Windham and died there on 7 Feb 1794.

Jerusha, m. 1) Ens. Eleazer Cary, Jr. on Jan 29, 1735/6 at Windham, who d. at Windham on Jul 24, 1754, the father of eight children. The widow Jerusha (Wales) Cary m. 2) as his 3rd wife on Jan. 19, 1758, Capt. Nathaniel Lasell of Windham, who d. at Windham bef. May 1785. Lasell had by six children by his first two wives, none by Jerusha.
