About Jerome Lawrence Epstein
Jerome Lawrence Epstein, Ormond Beach, died May 2, 2008, after a brief illness. He was born December 17, 1915. A graduate of the University of Richmond, Mr. Epstein was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving as a bombardier and navigator on a B-29 in the Pacific Theater. He was the founder of J.L. Epstein and Sons, a successful meat brokerage firm in the New York metropolitan area. Mr. Epstein was a terrific tennis player, elected as captain of his college team, and winning the Bergen County, N.J., and various club championships. He was a member of Lion's Clubs in Florida and New Jersey for more than four decades and served as a chapter president. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dahvie (Travis) Epstein; his three sons, George, Frederick and Joseph, along with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Epstein is remembered by all as a perfect gentleman with a flawless backhand. Everyone he touched during his long life was better for it. Published in Daytona Beach News-Journal on May 7, 2008
