Jessie Buettner Steele

The photo of Jessie Buettner Steele and her mother Emma Margaretha Buettner Steele was taken when Jessie was about 10 years old in around 1923. Jessie Buettner Steele was born on October 3, 1913, to the late Jesse Pierce Steele and Emma Margaretha Buettner in Manti, Utah. She spent 11 years working as an assembler with electronics for Bourns in Riverside, California. She also worked in the Garment District in Los Angeles, California. for many years. Jessie resided in the county of Riverside for 78 years. On February 16, 2012, she passed away at the Eugenia’s Sweet Home Care in San Jacinto, California.

Jessie was part of United Church of Christ and actively involved in her missionary work in the 1920's throughout the county of Riverside. Her favorite time was spent making gift cards with poems, playing the mandolin and conquering the jigsaw puzzle.

Jessie is proceeded in death by her cousin Flossie who she spent many years living with at the Camelot Assisted living in Hemet, California. She is survived by her dear friend Joan Walters of Hemet, California, and host of friends from both Camelot Assisted Living and Eugenias Sweet Home.

Added note: Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah p.,1183, Jesse Pierce Steele married Emma Margaretha Buettner October 14, 1908, Manti, Utah. She was the daughter of Eberhardt Buettner and Louisa Reiss, formerly of Germany and Illinois---married April 2, 1878). Emma was born March 16, 1881, Belleville, Illinois.

Emma was Jesse's third wife. Jesse was a Mormon polygamist.
