Joan Devereux was the daughter of Sir John Devereux, 1st Lord Devereux and Margaret de Vere.[1]

She married, firstly, Walter FitzWalter, 5th Lord FitzWalter, son of Walter FitzWalter, 4th Lord FitzWalter and Alianore Dagworth.[2]

She married, secondly, Sir Hugh Burnell, 2nd Lord Burnell, son of Nicholas Burnell, 1st Lord Burnell and Mary (?), before 29 January 1407/8.[1],[3]

She died on 11 May 1409.[1]

She was buried at Dunmow, Essex, England.[1] An inquest post mortem was held for her on 6 November 1422.[1]

Her married name became FitzWalter.[1]

From 1408 to 1409, her married name became Burnell.[1]
