She was born about c1682. Her parents have been often said to have been Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Williams of Rhode Island.
~• but this is incorrect. No sourced genealogy of the famed Rev. William of Providence Plantation and his son Joseph mention a Joanna Williams. Please don't change Joanna's parentage here.

It would be bizarre that biographies of the famous Rev. WIlliams family of Providence Plantation to omit the birth of a granddaughter.

She was the first wife of Rev. George A. Ross (1680 Scot.-1755 DE.) & married about c1706 in New Castle, DE.

children and death

George & Joanna were the parents of 6 known living children. She is believed to have died after child birth. Their graves are unknown but the memorial for Rev. George A. Ross is inside the Immanuel Episcopal Church in New Castle, Delaware. Some of their children are also buried there.

remarriage of husband

Rev. George A. Ross married again about 1728 to Catherine Von Gezel (abt.1708-aft.1754). George & Catherine were the parents of 7 known living children. Their daughter Gertrude Ross Read is also buried there.

George married Joanna Williams in about 1705. She was born in about 1690 and died on 23 Sept 1725. They had 6 children:

1. David Ross was born in 1708. He married Sarah Rolfe on 12 Feb 1731 in New Castle, DE.

2. John Ross was born in 1711 in New Castle, DE and died 8 May 1776 in Philadelphia, PA. He married Elizabeth Morgan on 28 Dec 1731.

3. Margaret Ross was born in 1712 and died 20 Aug 1766. She married Rev. Walter Hackett and Rev. William Currie.

4. Rev. Aeneas Ross was born 17 Sep 1716 in New Castle, DE and died in Apr 1782 in New Castle, DE. He married Sarah Leach on 3 Jan 1745.

5. Ann Catherine Ross was born in 1719. She married John Yeates.

6. Jacob Ross was born in 1726. He married Jane Syre.
