H38Captain Civil War, and then enlisted in the regular army. He served in Company E, 8th Regiment 1861 and 1862 under Capt. Lukin E. Curtis, whose Regimental Colonel was Olzey Ohley. He had signed up for 3 years with the Virginia Volunteers. He died of Pneumonia while serving as Ward Master in the Buffalo Hospital, Putnam County, Virginia.
