Mathijs is omtrent in 1774 op die ouderdom van sowat 42 jaar oorlede op “de Gelukshoop, Droge Rivier”, vermoedelik in die Swellendam distrik. Die plaas “de Gelukshoop” was ‘n leenplaas. Hermina is weer getroud met Anton Rinck op 6 November 1774 in die NGK Drakenstein.

Hermina gee Anton Rinck se inventaris MOOC 8/18.3 in te Elephants Doorn Rivier op 5 Mei 1782. “De Gelukshoop” word ook in hierdie inventaris genoem as “een opstal gen:t Gelukshoop gelegen aan de Breede Rivier”.

"JOHANN MATTHIAS BENADE van Halberstadt, Duitsland, het in 1752 met die skip Spaarsaamheyd in Suid-Afrika aangekom. Van 1754 tot 1765 het hy as boerkneg gewerk, waarna hy burgerskap verkry het. Hy was die vader van tien kinders by sy eggenote Hermina Booysen.
Die Benade-familie het stadigaan na die binneland uitgebrei en was onder die Voortrekkers wat hul heil in die Noorde gaan soek het.
Verskeie burgers uit hierdie vertakkings het aan die Tweede Vryheidsoorlog deelgeneem. Onder meer kom die naam van J. M. Benade voor op die lys van gesneuweldes wat op die Lichtenburgse Monument verskyn.
Daar is ook die bekende Jan Adriaan Benade, wat as 12-jarige seun van die Bethlehemse distrik by kommandant Scheepers se magte aangesluit het. Hy het later saam met sy vader in genl. Christiaan de Wet se kommando tot die einde deurgeveg. Alhoewel die Benades ‘n betreklike klein familie is, word hulle vandag in feitlik elke sfeer van die Suid-Afrikaanse beroeps- en openbare lewe aangetref.

"Mr JA Heese (then of the Strand near Cape Town) conducted a research on this name on behalf of Jacques BENADIE and set out below is a translation of his findings dated 10/10/1973. The original is in Afrikaans and a copy can obtained from jaq@freemail.absa.co.za. His letter reads; (a) The line starts (in South Africa) with JOHANN MATTHIAS BENADIE(He himself signed the surname as BENNADE). He came from Halberstadt in 1752(in the vicinity of MAGDEBURG, GERMANY). He served two years of service as a soldier in the service of De Kompanje after which between 1754 and 1765 he worked for various farmers until in 1765 he became a free citizen. He died in 1774 on the farm "De Gelukshoop" in the Roeveld. He and Hermina BOOYSEN had ten children and you descend from the oldest son namely JOHANNES TOBIAS. (b1) Johannes Tobias was christened on 29/09/1754 and on 07/11/1784 hemarried Catharina CARSTEN. They had five children. You descend from the third child GIDEON FRANCOIS. (c3) Gideon Francois was christened on 10/03/1793. (Before 1800 the books did not give dates of birth). He was married in 1810 to a Miss De Beer but you descend from his second marriage. On 08/01/1815 as a widower at Graaff-Reinet he re-married with Maria PRETORIUS. Out of this marriage was born on 11/08/1820 and christened at Graaff-Reinet on 19/11/1820GIDEON FRANCOIS. (d) GIDEON FRANCOIS (Born 1820) married Dina Johanna VAN STADEN at Beaufort West on 18/02/1842. Their oldest son was born in 1844 and according to the custom he was named after the father's father Gideon Francois. (e) Gideon Francois (Born 1844) was married on 23/10/1865 at VictoriaWest with Johanna Christina SMIT. Out of this marriage was born on the farm Process Fontein on 12/06/1869, Cornelis Francois. The child was christened on 08/08/1969 in Victoria West. (f)Cornelis Francois (Born 1869) was married in Britstown on 27/02/1893 with Anna Catharina SWIEGERS. (They are your grandparents). The oldest child was born on 15/02/1894 and christened on 18/03/1894 in Britstown. According to the practice he was christened Gideon Francois. (g) Your father JOHANNES MATTHYS was born on 27/08/1910 and christened in Britstown on 08/09/1910. Your father was thus given your ancestors name. (h) Jacques born 26/11/1945 (Yourself). You are thus already the seventh(??) generation in this country."
