About Johan Heinrich Emig

Heinrich Emig, born in Germany abt 1737-39 came to Pennsylvania with his parents in 1749, settling in Haycock Twp, Buck's, PA. Heinrich married Catharine Nicola\Nicholas Dec 4, 1759 in the school house, Bedminster Twp. On July 7, 1765 he was naturalized and his name was misspelled ERNIG in this record. (MS Giuseppi "Naturalizations Foreign Protestants", 111) Heinrich was a member of Keller's Lutheran Church where his children were christened. Heinrich owned and operated a grist-saw mill on the Tohickon Creek and mentioned in 1768 in a petition for roads on page 138. Next in a tax record, 1775 with the mill (Terry McNealy & Frances Wait "Bucks Tax Rec 1693-1778",79) He received four land patents in Haycock Twp on or near the Tohickon. Heinrich died interstate a young man bef June 11 1777, leaving minor children. Emy is recorded as his last name and Catherine Amey his wife & brother-in-law John Nicholas, administrators.
