Juho the father of Akseli and Hima took the name of Hietaniemi. Before his name was Kinnunen and the family came from about fifteen kilometers farther from the Hietaniemi’s place which is only three kilometers from the village church. He was a black smith as well as as farmer. His nick name was ‘Hieta-seppa” ( Hieta-smith). You can still find the keys he made for the church door in the church in Perho and in the granary which is in the yard.
Before Kinnunen the family nam e was Tiala and before that Mootonen. Directly descended from Kalle Mottonen the first inhabitant of Perho, Finland. He came from Karstula, Middle Finland.
While Aksela was still living, the Hietaniemi farm was divided into three farms. The owners were Aleksanteri (Santeri), brother Antti and sister Laimi who looks like Hilma.
Anttie Hietaniemi’s share of ehe farm into many pieces betweenhis four sons and one daughter. It is called the street of Antti. The house of Antti went to Yrjo, his son.
The house of Santeri went to Pentti and Kalevi, who were brothers. Timo is now the owner of the house.
