About Johan Paul van der Stok
Johan Paul van der Stok ( Balikpapan ( Borneo , Dutch East Indies ), March 21, 1919 - Mauthausen concentration camp ( Austria ), April 11, 1945 ) was a Dutch resistance fighter during World War II .
Hans van der Stok had reached England via 'route Zwaantje' (Delfzijl-Sweden). Among other things, he had a message with him for the Dutch government in London from Henk Deinum . In the night of 19 to 20 September 1943 he was parachuted together with the agent Otto Martin Wiedemann (1915 - 2000) in the vicinity of Middenmeer above the Wieringermeerpolder . He worked as a radiotelegraph operator / codist for the Intelligence Bureau (BI). The BI worked closely with the English Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). Hans van der Stok was taken over by the Sicherheitsdienst on February 2, 1944(SD) arrested. He was taken to Mauthausen by the Germans. He was a brother of Bram van der Stok.
After his landing Hans van der Stok took shelter with his brother Felix on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam . From various signal addresses in Amsterdam, he was responsible for radio contact with the BI and the Dutch government in London for the Ordedienst (OD). He worked as an agent in the role of radio operator / codist and microfilm photographer for the Barbara Zendgroep and provided support to the Packard Group . During the radio contacts with the BI he used the code names Hans and Johansen. During his contacts "in the field" he used the pseudonym Jan de Vries.
Through the mediation of Chris Tonnet , the contact person of the Order Service , the agent Hans van der Stok was given a workspace in a house on Courbetstraat in Amsterdam. In this space he developed his photo material. Agent Reijer Abraham Grisnigt worked with Van der Stok at this address. From the address at 632 Prinsengracht, the home of Felix van der Stok, Grisnigt sent his messages to the BI and the Dutch government in London . On February 2, 1944 Bram Grisnigt and the two brothers Van der Stok were arrested by the SD. Hans van der Stok was transferred to Mauthausen. He died in captivity on April 11, 1945.
